Ages 8-14

SongLab is a songwriting and composition summer camp where kids ages 8–14 discover how songs are made and learn that they already have everything they need to write their own.

Campers explore lyrics, melody, rhythm, and song structure through fun, hands-on activities, creative games, and group collaboration. Kids can write songs on their own or work together, experimenting with styles and sounds while building confidence in their musical ideas.

A highlight of SongLab is the chance for campers to record their original songs in a supportive, kid-friendly studio setting. With guidance from experienced instructors, kids learn the basics of recording and hear their music come to life.

Rooted in Oakland’s vibrant creative community, SongLab is a welcoming space where imagination leads, curiosity is encouraged, and every kid leaves with new skills, new songs, and a recording they can be proud of.
