Thanksgiving songwriting camp

Christmas has hundreds of songs. Thanksgiving? Not so much. Let’s fix that!

Monday - Wednesday, November 23rd - 25th, Ages 8-14
9:00 AM–3:00 PM

$250 for the full camp, or $99 for single days

This Thanksgiving break, young musicians will spend three fun-filled days writing, playing, and creating their own original music! Thanksgiving Songwriting Camp gives kids the chance to experience the entire songwriting process, from coming up with that first great idea to turning it into a finished song.

Throughout the camp, students will explore lyrics, rhyme, melody, chords, song structure, and arrangement through games, creative challenges, group activities, and plenty of hands-on music making. We’ll listen to great songs, experiment with different instruments, and work together to discover what makes a song memorable.

And because there aren’t nearly as many Thanksgiving songs as Christmas songs, we’ll have to write some ourselves! Campers can write about Thanksgiving, family, gratitude, food, turkeys, or take their song in a completely unexpected direction.

Over three days, students will take their ideas from a blank page to a finished original song, then bring everything together to perform and record what they’ve created.

No songwriting experience is necessary. Whether your child already plays an instrument or is just excited about music and wants to give songwriting a try, everyone is welcome.
